LIFE'S REFLECTIONS
Julia Maple Donald Briscoe was born August 18, 1929, to Edward Donald, Sr. and Maple Rebecca Taylor Donald in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husband, Johnny James Briscoe (whom she was married to for 45 years), her Brother, Edward Donald, Jr., her Brother, Maryland (M.J.) Donald, her Niece, Cynthia Donald, her Nephew, Barry McWashington, and her Nephew, Leon E. Dean III.
Julia was baptized at Trinity A.M.E. Church and was a lifelong member for over 80 years. She formerly was an Usher, participated in choir, and was the President of Trinity A.M.E. Communion Stewards, Church Secretary for years, and on the Church Steward Board.
Julia attended Kealing, Stowe, Northeast and Sumner High School. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1947. She was very active with her Class and involved with the Class Scholarship program. After many years, she was asked to be Secretary of her Class. It was her honor to send out Sympathy Cards and Condolences to Class Members who had lost loved ones. She also attended Kansas City Kansas Junior College and Donnelly College.
Julia worked at KU Medical Center in the Neurology Department for 36 and a half years as a Medical Transcriptionist and Private Secretary. After retiring from KU Medical Center on November 1, 1992, she went to work for three more years for private doctors at a clinic in Kansas City, Kansas.
She leaves to mourn, Sister, Alberta Dobbins, Nephews, Jefferson Edward Donald (Rochelle), Julian Edward Donald, Daniel Elias Donald, Brian Donald, Lee M. Dean, Lamont Dean, Keith Donald (Lynn), Rodney Donald, T'Juan Markel Dean, Lonnie McWashington, Kevin McWashington (Carmen). Nieces: Jordan Donald, Birdie R. Dean, Wendy McWashington, Aliyah LeAnne Dean and a host of other relatives and friends.
A very special appreciation to the godsent Ruby Moore, who took such good care of Julia like she was her own mother, along with Yvonne Porter, another wonderful caretaker who loved Julia. Special thanks also go to Interim Hospice Care.
Funeral to be held at Trinity A.M.E. Church – 2301 N. 5th Street, Kansas City, Kansas; Burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery – Leavenworth, Kansas.
