Life’s Reflections
Joyce Lee Jones, 80, passed away on May 23, 2020 at Merriam Gardens Health & Rehab, in Shawnee, Kansas. Joyce was born on December 5, 1939 in Van Buren, Arkansas by midwife/Grandmother Massoline Moore to Nathaniel Jack and Leodell Vivian Steward Jones.
Joyce grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she attended St. John Catholic School thru the 8th grade. She then attended Battle Creek Central High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. After high school she became the lead singer for a local band in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Joyce was baptized as Jehovah Witness on January 9, 1977.
Joyce spent most of her career at Doosan/Clark Equipment from 1968-97 as an Order Fulfillment Specialist. She worked also for PNC Banks of Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Data Entry Specialist.
Joyce’s free time was spent with family, friends and the Jehovah Witness Fellowships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Houston, Texas and Conway, Arkansas.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Leodell Jones, maternal grandparents Lenard and Melisa Steward, paternal grandparents, Mary Moore and Chester McReynolds, siblings Nathaniel Jack Jones Jr and Jacqueline Jones Cummings.
Joyce is survived by siblings Mary Booth of Kansas City, KS; Vivian Cox, Conway, AR; Charolette Tidwell, Fort Smith, AR; Martha Ward, Kansas City, KS; Roy Jones, (Cella) Kent, WA; Rudinia Hurt, Kansas City, MO and Rodney Jones, Fort Smith, AR. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We regret due to the nature of COVID-19, the services will be private only for the immediate family.
The family would like to thank everyone that have called to offer condolences and their love. In addition, the family wishes to extend their gratitude to Merriam Gardens Health & Rebab of Shawnee, Kansas and “The Golden Girls”, Charlotte Christol, Helen Mason & Beverly Bruce for being a helping hand.
