Joseph Ivory Obituary

Joseph Charles Ivory, Jr was called home to be with the Lord on March 6th, 2025, peacefully at his home. He was 68 years young! Joseph was born November 8th 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Joseph C Ivory, Sr. and Dolores Jean Johnson Ivory. Joseph was raised in Kansas City, KS and received his general education through K.C.K Public Schools. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age, attending Bethel Baptist Church and later became a member at Decision Baptist. Growing up, Joseph worked alongside his parents and siblings in the family business "Ivory Brothers Grocery & Liquor". Joseph decided to serve his country and in May of 1977 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as an infantry man with a specialty in explosives. He served several years, including a tour overseas. After returning home, he was employed with  KCI airport as a transportation driver until he later retired. He was preceded in death by both parents, Joseph and Delores Ivory, and most recently his baby sister, Marshalea Smith Coleman (Ivory). He was affectionally called "Jody or Joe" by all that knew and loved him, he was well known by many in the community. Jody, standing over 6ft tall, loved EVERYTHING BIG! He loved big cars, always driving a big Cadillac or Lincoln and it had to always be super clean. He loved to Barbeque, and if the weather was nice, he was on the grill! Joe loved to put a big brisket on the grill and feed anyone who came by. Joseph shared a love for plants just as his mother did, and a green thumb for gardening. Above all Jody loved his family, lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Experiencing multiple issues with his health during his lifetime, he remained grateful for life and lived it to the fullest! Jody will TRULY be missed by his loved ones!

He is survived by his siblings, Cynthia Hines-Davis (Dallas TX), Francine Griffin (Kansas City, KS), David Ivory (Kansas City, KS), and Anthony Ivory (Carminya) of Kansas City, KS. His son, Jomar Ivory, his grandson Kendric Lee Serell, two step-daughters, Amanda Penix and Angela Clark, all of Kansas City, KS. A host of neices and nephews; Victoria Muckelroy (Alex), Anthony Hayes (NaKisha), Tabitha Hayes, LaDana Ivory, Cydney Hopkins, Monterio Ivory, Montana Ivory, and Majestye Ivory. A host of relatives and friends, acknowledging the loving relationships he shared with Freda Stewart and Neomia Ivory!
