Johnny Lee Edwards was born on July 31,1954 to Luevina Edwards and Joseph Henagan in Kansas City, KS.
Johnny accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Big 11 Lake by Rev Milburn where he was a member of Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church. Johnny graduated from the great Sumner High School in 1973 and immediately entered the workforce. He was employed at Sunshine Biscuits (now Kellogg’s) and was a dedicated worker for 36 years until he retired in 2010.
Johnny loved fishing and listening to jazz. In his younger years he would go to concerts with friends and go fishing with his stepfather and neighbors on the weekends. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. Johnny had a big heart, a big bright smile, and an infectious laugh. He helped those who called on him for help and loved being around family. On December 5, 2010, Johnny rededicated his life to Christ and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He quickly became an active member participating in the male choir, church van ministry and laymen. Even as his health began to fail Johnny stayed committed to his church. He remained a member of Bethel until his passing.
Johnny Edwards departed this life on Sunday, November 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Henagan, mother Luevina Robinson, stepfather Thomas Robinson Jr, grandmothers Lula M Hughes, Nobie Henagan, grandfather Joseph Henagan, sister Debra Knowles, and stepbrother Ivory Robinson.
