Johnie Patterson Obituary

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die;”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Johnie Mae (Scott) Patterson was born to the union of Nehemiah and Toledo (Henderson) Scott on May 19, 1945 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Johnie Mae departed this life on May 15, 2018 to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Hattie (Hill) Henderson; her parents; a son, Terence; and her husband, Milchi.

Johnie Mae received her education at Edmond Elementary School and graduated from Merrill High School in 1963. That same year, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Milchi Patterson. The couple initially settled in Chicago, but eventually moved to Kansas City. To this union three children were born: Terence, Tracy, and Kellye. Following the birth of her daughter, Johnie began working at Continental Plastics & Packaging.  She retired in 1999.

Johnie professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Wheeler Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. As a young mother and wife in Kansas City, she joined Salem Baptist Church and was active in Mission and Usher Ministries until health issues ended her lively participation. She continued as a faithful member of the congregation ultimately attending services for over 45 years.

The Sunday morning prior to her death, she prepared to attend church services but had to be rushed to the hospital.

Johnie Mae (Scott) Patterson leaves to cherish her memory her brother, John Scott; two sisters, Ruthie (Scott) Anderson; and Ernestine (Walker) Gordon; her son, Tracy and daughter, Kellye; a special niece, Christina Anderson; a special cousin, Annie Nelson; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as a vibrant community of friends.
