Life’s Reflection

John JB Bankhead passed away on May 31, 2019 at his residence in Suisun City, California.  John was born February 27, 1942 in Argentine, Kansas to Jefferson and Harriet Balthorp Bankhead. JB grew up in Argentine, Kansas and graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1960.  JB was one of the fastest track stars in the city, he received many rewards and scholarships, but he decided to join the United States Marine Corp instead and after serving two tours in Hawaii JB, return to California where he made his home.  JB began to work for Kaiser Permanente as an IT Specialist for more than 25 years.

John married his high school sweetheart Wanda Taylor and to this union one child was born, Kimberly C. Bankhead, this marriage was later dissolved.  Then John met and married Anita McFallar and they were happily married for 42 years until her death in 2009, there was no children born to their union.  Doing their marriage, they traveled abroad every year for months at a time.

JB had such a big heart, he returned to Kansas City, Kansas every year for 18 years to host the Argentine Annual Family Picnic where many generations from Argentine were able to come together.

He was also a long-time caregiver for a special mother-in-law, Madea.

JB and his longtime friends at Kaiser Permanente had a monthly birthday celebration which he enjoyed attending.  JB also loved watching all sports on his two televisions in his family room at the same time.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Harriet Bankhead; his sister, Hulah Francis Bankhead Russell, and his brother, Lynn Bankhead.

John leaves to cherish his memories his children, DeAnna K. Boose of Kansas City, Missouri; Kimberly C. Bankhead of Charlotte, North Carolina; John L. Bankhead of Oakland, California and Allyson J. Santa Maria of Alameda, California; brother, Quinton Zenon (Jackie), brother in law, Sonny McFallar; a very special friend, Phyllis Rose Jackson; a second father, Uncle Mark  “Joon” Sanders and his 10 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; niece, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
