After moving to Kansas City, Kansas she was a homemaker until her husband past away.  She then went to work as a seamstress for a Kansas City, Missouri furrier company.  After retiring as nursing assistant and seamstress she became a part-time nursery school/day care worker in Kansas City, Kansas.

She accepted Christ at an early age in Shreveport, Louisiana.  After moving to Kansas City, she joined The Eighth St. Baptist Church of Kansas City, Kansas and was a member for 70 years where she worshipped and served faithfully until her health failed.  Jessie served in several capacities which included teaching Sunday School and Baptist Training Union.  She worked in the Mission Department, and The Home Department (Visitation of Shut-Ins).  Jessie was a beautiful, determined Woman of God and led each of her children and others to Christ.

Her hobbies were gardening, sewing and traveling. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends often, especially Sunday dinners.
