James Hood, Jr. 73 passed away on August 4, 2023, at K U Medical Center Hospital in Kansas City, KS with his family at his bedside.
James was born on July 23, 1950, in Kansas City, KS. to James and Dotsy (Bennett ) Hood. James grew up in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS in 1968. He joined the army in 1969 and served for four years. James was honorably discharged in 1973. He began work for Midwest Conveyor as a warehouse employee where he worked for many years. James worked various jobs in his lifetime. He retired in 1995 after many years in the employment industry. Later in life, James enjoyed his life. He was always dressed to the 9’s and loved his cars. No matter what time of day, you would find James’s wiping and shining up his car. His greatest joy was his latest old school, Cadillac, in which his ONLY SON GIFTED HIM! James cherished his Cadillac so MUCH! Although he didn’t drive it often, he didn’t want ANYONE ELSE DRIVING IT! On one occasion, he found out that someone besides him had driven his Cadillac, he drove his car to Missouri to his son’s house and politely took his extra set of keys from him. James loved to eat, especially food from his daughter-in-law, Marietta. Marietta would load him up with all his sweets and send him home with a week’s worth of food. James also enjoyed his nephew’s girl, Katina food. He liked her Chili and everything else she cooked. James’ Greatest Blessings were his children in which he nicknamed “ Tone Tone” and “ Babygirl” Tone Tone always had to have his way and Babygirl could do NO WRONG!
James was preceded in death by his parents James Sr. and Dotsy Hood, 3 brothers, Alonzo, Charles, and Wendell Hood; 1 grandson, Zayden Allen; niece, Keya Marie and stepson, Mario Spivey, James is survived by his son, Antonio (Marietta ) Bennett, of Kansas City, MO, 2 daughters:Ebony Hood of Kansas City,KS and Jamita Hood of Liberty, MO. His grandchildren; Antonio jr., Adrian, Mark jr., Za’Quan, Za’Shaun and Za’Laya. James also leaves his only sister, Theresa Hood of Kansas City, KS. Other sisters; Carolyn and sylvia Hood all of Kansas City, MO. He leaves his only nephew; Alonzo ( Katina) Hood. 3 nieces; Latrice, Nemo, and jasmine Hood all of Kansas City, MO. 2 great nephews; Barry ( Stephanie) Wilson and Dominique Hood. The mother of his children, Marva Jo Bennett. His long life friends; Thomas Rancifer, Charles Carvin, Ronnie and Nolen Sayler, Ronnie Lester and Theodore Adams.
