Life Reflections
James Clarence Brown was the fifth child born to Pinkerton and Roberta McClellan Brown. His mother and family affectionately called him “Teddy”. He was born in Foreman, Arkansas on October 3, 1939. James accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized. Later the family relocated to Kansas City, Kansas and became members of the Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roy A. Reed.
James attended and graduated from Argentine High School; Class of 1958 then went on to join the United States Marine. After completing his military service, James made his home on the west coast–most of his time in California and in his later years in Reno, Nevada.
James had a love for music and a voice to go with it, so while in the Marine Corp, he and a few other guys formed a singing group called “The Fi-Dels” they took their name form the Corp’s Latin Motto “Semper Fidelis” and in the mid 1960’s earned a record contract. James also enjoyed sports and had an infectious sense of humor.
On Thursday, August 4, James went to his heavenly home. He joined his parents, and five of his siblings in heavenly rest.
He leaves cherished memories to his daughter and the “Apple of his Eye”, Terry Brown-Crumby of Winnemucca, Nevada; one granddaughter, Bailey; two sisters, Onie Jean DeBose (Vernon); and Wanda Adams (Nathaniel) of Kansas City, Kansas; one brother, Donald Brown (Michelle) of Las Vegas, Nevada; extended family and friends.
