JOHN MOSLEY Obituary

John Edward Mosely, Sr. was born to Curley B. Mosley and Carrie Dailey on February 16, 1943. John accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at an early age.  John began his grammar school education (K-8th grade) at Sidon Industrial High School in 1949. He completed his high school education at Amanda Elzy High School 1962 in Sidon MS.  He went on to study political science earning his associate applied science at Natchez Junior College in MS. He later went to Mississippi Valley State College.

John moved to Chicago in 1965. He was hired at Zenith Television in 1967. In 1978, John moved to Milwaukee holding a variety of other employment positions. Then in 1983, he was hired by General Electric (GE) in Waukesha WI.  After 34+ years of service as an assembler of medical tables, John retired in 2000.

John met the love of his life, Mary in 1988 through Mary’s mother.  John and Mary married on May 26, 1990. The union brought together 5 children.  Mary and John enjoyed going out to eat and “smooching”. John’s public show of love for Mary was well known. He would tell everyone, “I’m a lover, not a fighter!” Tragically in 2000, while at home, John became the victim of a random shooting changing his life. The bullet remained in John’s spine until his transition. Mary and John relocated to Leavenworth KS in 2019.  Though John had several other ailments, he rarely complained. He fought a “good fight and kept the faith.”

While in Chicago, John was a member of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Charlie Stimage. He served as an usher and choir member often taking his daughter-Brenda to rehearsals.

In 2005, Bro. Mosley joined True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee WI under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Garry B. Levy. He also served the Laymen’s Ministry of the General Baptist State Convention of WI, Inc./National Baptist Convention, USA Inc.

In 2019, Bro. Mosley became a member of the Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Dr. Calvin Lewis.  Pastor Lewis was the spiritual leader that Bro. Mosley looked to see every Sunday. Pastor Lewis had to “rub Bro. Mosley’s head”.  John was grateful for his spiritual guidance and prayers.

John was a remarkable person with a distinctive style and a warm personality. His love for matching hats and shirts, along with his fondness for watches, suggests a keen sense of fashion and attention to detail. His passion for discussing his faith and finding goodness in everyone reflects how deeply he cared for everyone. John was a true patriarch of his family, he loved, and mentored his sons into manhood, he loved his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, positivity, and guidance will surely endure in our hearts.

John was preceded in death by his parents; Curley B.
