JOEL WRENN Obituary

Joel Joyce Porter Wrenn, known affectionately as "Jimmy" by her family, peacefully transitioned from her earthly home on April 24, 2024. Born on February 26, 1943, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Joel was the beloved eldest daughter of Richard and Inez Porter. Growing up alongside her two sisters, Margie Jean and Beverly Ann, Joel attended L'Overture for elementary, middle, and high school, graduating in 1960.

Her educational journey took her to various institutions, including College in Wichita, KS, Langston University, and receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Kansas City, MO. It was during this time that she met and married Dr. Thomas Wrenn, DDS.

Joel's love for her family knew no bounds, and her devotion was evident in every aspect of her life. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing trips, games of dominos, and the soul-soothing melodies of music. However, it was in the kitchen that Joel truly shone. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she generously shared her talent, creating enduring memories through her delicious meals.

During her final years, Jimmy was blessed with the opportunity to live with her beloved sister, Margie Jean. Their bond grew even stronger as they shared the ups and downs of life together. Margie Jean always provided support and love to Jimmy, even in her final moments, she remained by Jimmy's side until the end.

Joel is preceded in death by her mothers, Inez Porter and Clara Tilford, her father, Richard Porter, and her grandmothers, Ella Porter, Margie Johnson, Elizabeth Woods, and Inez McGrew.

With Joel's passing, a void has been left that can never be filled. She is survived by her sisters Margie Porter, Beverly Porter Hale (Homer Jr.), Debra Porter Hendricks, and Cheri Porter, along with her brother Richard Watlington and her daughter/niece Elizabeth Hale (Bryan), and a host of adopted nieces and nephews. Each of them carries a piece of Joel's indomitable spirit, ensuring that her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.

Though she may be physically absent, Joel's presence will forever be felt, her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
