JESSE WALKER Obituary

Jesse Donnell Walker was born on November 17, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of Eugene C. and Lena Lee Walker. He was the sixth of nine children born to this union. Jesse excepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas public school system. As a child, he enjoyed traveling to McAlester, Oklahoma to visit his grandmother, Bessie Garner. He worked in the manufacturing field, including Owens & Corning Fiberglass and Cintas Uniforms. Jesse was a great cook, with a deep passion for barbeque. He mastered many dishes and could cook steak to perfection. His special ‘Duck Sauce’ will never be duplicated. Duck also had a flair for fashion, he would step on to any scene with the top two buttons open on his shirt, sharp as a razor and as cool as a breeze. He loved riding motorcycles and listening to music, some of his favorites include Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield. Duck had many accomplishments in his lifetime but creating his family was by far the greatest.

Jesse married his childhood sweetheart, Pamela D. Womack in December of 1979. They were voted ‘Cutest Couple’, according to Sumner Class of ‘74’. To this union, one son was born, Jesse Donnell Walker II, whom he lovingly referred to as ‘My Boy’. He also gained a bonus daughter, Erica Denise Carruthers, whom he also lovingly referred to as ‘Fat Mama’. He was blessed with grand and great-grandchildren, and he loved them dearly. They loved their Paw Paw Duck too and was always excited to see him. Our family gatherings were epic, and the memories can’t be erased.

Jesse lost his battle with cancer on November 6, 2024, and was preceded in death by his parents Eugene C. and Lena Lee Walker; sisters, Bessie M. Barnett and Marian E. Hamilton; brother, Hollis E. Walker; nephew, Kyle Crayton; and great-nephew, Kyle Crayton Jr.
