Ida B. (Carroll) Wallace

September 23, 1933 ~ September 29, 2014 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Life’s Reflections

IDA B. WALLACE was the 4th child of 5 born to the union of Will and Anna Lee Carroll on September 23, 1933 in El Dorado, Arkansas.  Both parents; husband, Oliver Wallace; brothers, Lawrence and Doris Carroll; sister, Lessie B. Owens; son-in-law, George W. Parker preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wallace’s love for the Baptist Church began at an early age through the guidance of her parents and maternal grandfather, Reverend William Mosley who pastured two Churches in Arkansas.  After moving to Kansas City, Kansas, the family joined Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend A. D. Banks.

Ida was united in marriage to William Leroy Slack where one child was born to the union, Mary Slack Parker. Initially told she would be unable to bear children, she was very happy this was untrue; as she later became not only a mother, but a beloved grandmother and great grandmother.  This marriage was dissolved, however, they remained close friends until his death in 1999. Later, she united in marriage to Oliver Wallace and moved to Taft, Oklahoma where they spent many happy years together.

Everyone who knew this wonderful lady was awed at the unconditional love she showered on all.  Ida took care of her stroke-ridden father for 14 years, married a man 16 years her senior, with an elderly mother which she cared for them both over 20 years.  Their home was called “The Big House” in Taft, Oklahoma because everyone knew if they could make it to “The Big House”, Ida would be there, waiting, with open arms always smiling, ready to feed and nurture them as if they were her own. An elderly lady stated “I’ve never heard of anyone like her (only Jesus Christ)”.

Mrs. Wallace leaves to cherish her memory, her only child and caregiver, Mary Slack Parker; Grandchildren, Traci Nikol Parker-Gray; Omar Parker; Anwar Parker and Ali Parker; Great Grandchildren, Brain and Brendon Gray; Ali Parker, II; Lavonte Parker; Brianna Nicole and Quentin George Parker; brother, Will Carroll (Tanya); and many nieces, nephews.
