Herman Lloyd, Sr was born on May 5, 1941, to Malachi and Lucille Lloyd in John’s Island, South Carolina.
Herman departed this life on May 5, 2026.
His hometown was Charleston, SC. He loved to travel and fish. He later moved to New York where he met and married Joyce Black. Born to this union was one son, Herman Lloyd, Jr. He worked for 35 years as a building engineer at Convent of the Sacred Heart until his retirement. Students and faculty really cherished him and his many stories.
Thanks to their son Herman Jr who searched for and found his father 40 years after his parents divorced. This led them to be reunited and remarried in 2008!
He was a faithful member of Oak Ridge, and often was an honorary parking lot (ride along) attendant with Butch Willis. Herman was a quiet man until you mentioned New York and as he used to say, “Oh boy let me tell you one thing……”
He was preceded in death by his wife (Joyce Lloyd), grandson (Landon Maltbia), In-Law (Adell Young, Sr), parents Malachi and Lucille Lloyd, brother Walter Brown, sisters, Evelyn Lloyd, Delores Brown and brothers-in-law Steve Waterman and Darren Pediford.
Herman leaves to cherish his legacy of memories: son, Herman Lloyd, Jr (Chavonne), sisters, Adelle Waterman, Theresa Brown, Janie Brown, Ida Lloyd Pediford, Sabrina Lloyd, brother Charles Brown, In-laws (Donald & Joycelyn Boyce), grandsons, Wymann Simpson (Chanarian), Ricky Maltbia (Adrene), 5 great granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
