Harvey Lee Shannon Sr., passed away peacefully on March 11th , 2023, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, FL. Harvey was born to Howard Shannon and Lillian Patterson Shannon on March 13th, 1938, in Kansas City Kansas. He was the eldest of 10 children. He attended Northeast Junior High and Sumner High School. While in school he loved track and held the record for the 100-meter dash for several years. In the 11th grade he left school enter the United States Army. After leaving the Army he went to work for General Motors Corp., where he was employed for 32 years. He was a long standing member of the Pride of the West, Lodge Number 53. In 1972, he married Betty J. McAfee Shannon. He was previously married to Carolyn Sue Ashford Shannon. Both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was 1 son Harv K Shannon, 4 Brothers: Lloyd Shannon, Ronald Shannon, Carl Wyatt and Arthur Wyatt and his parents. Harvey was baptized at Walnut Boulevard Baptist Church and was a member there for several years until he moved his membership to The Kansas City Community Church. Harvey leaves to cherish his memory are his children: Harvey L Shannon Jr., Tamara McCoy (Richard McCoy), and Rodney Wimley; his siblings: Sandra Maddox, Richard & Wanda Shannon, Carolyn Wyatt, Sharon Wyatt, and Robin Wyatt; his grandchildren: Gabrielle Lowe, Richard McCoy, Reco McCoy, Nicholas McCoy, Rachel McCoy, Isaiah Shannon, Imani Shannon, Kalab Shannon, Khory Shannon, Tru Wimley, Rodney Wimley Jr., Ciara Wimley, Markeise Wimley, Travon Wimley; 11 Great Grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
