Harold Dayton Sauls Sr. passed away peacefully in his home, the afternoon of August 8, 2021, after a gradual decline in his health. He was surrounded by family during the last days of his life. He leaves behind his spouse of 44 years, Wanda Dirks; 12 children, siblings; and a host of family.
Harold Sauls was born on January 31, 1956, in Kansas City, KS to the union of Charles D. Sauls and Lillie M. Sauls. He grew up in a large family of 5 brothers, 6 sisters and a niece. After his schooling, Harold worked a series of jobs until he became a full-time employee of the Street Maintenance Division-Unified Government of Wyandotte County. He was a flare technician for 35 years before retiring in January of 2020.
If Harold wasn't working or assisting with raising his children, you could always find him in his backyard working on his craft. He was truly a renaissance man that loved working with his hands. He was very well-known for his customized barbecue grills, picnic tables, lawn furniture and trash bins which he sold throughout the KC Metro area. Harold's desire, once he retired, was to have his creations patented to eventually sell them all over North America.
