Herbert Hayes McKinzy, 72, passed away on July 3, 2024, at The Groves in Independence MO. He was born on April 8, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles and Jane Richardson McKinzy.
Herbert grew up in Kansas City. He graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1970. After high school, he received a certificate as a truck driver in Iowa, IA.
He served in the U.S. Navy. Herbert began working at various jobs, Penn Valley Community College and Seal Right Asphalt to name a couple. He was married briefly to Irma Harris. Herbert took much pride in his vehicles, always fixing and repairing them himself.
Herbert was a member of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, working faithfully as an usher for many years. He later joined Love Unlimited International serving proudly as an armor bearer. He then joined St. Peter C. M. E. Church and sometimes worked with the Lord’s table.
Herbert was preceded in death by both parents and 2 sisters.
He is survived by brother Charles, sister Nellie, brother-in-law Sammie, Uncle Alvin S. Richardson, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
