Hazel Marie Taylor was born on October 13, 1930 in Homer, Louisiana to the union of Chester Norton and Sarah Turner Norton. Hazel attended Clearview High School.
Hazel married her best friend, Herman M. Taylor Sr. in Okemah, Oklahoma on September 15, 1947. To this union, they had 10 daughters and 3 sons.
Hazel was a devoted wife, momma, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. She was a housewife, homemaker and seamstress, who enjoyed watching soap operas, wrestling and football. Hazel was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish for over 60 years. She loved reading (novels and magazines), cooking, word search puzzles, knitting and crocheting and would often assist in preparing meals for St. Mary’s food kitchen of Kansas City, KS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Taylor, Sr., her mother, Sarah Turner Norton, and father Chester L. Norton, daughter, Nettie Ruth, granddaughter Chanel Deanne, great granddaughter A’Lainah Faith Marie, sisters Gradie Bell and Florence, brothers Alvin, Leatrice, Glen, Willie, Dorice and Brodist, her best friend, Hellene Moore and son-in-laws, Michael Hamilton and Theadore (Ted) Anderson.
Hazel (Momma) leaves to cherish her wonderful memories. She leaves behind one sister, Gloria Bennett, and two sister-in-laws, Vivian and Bennie Taylor, as well as her children, Latrella Anderson, Jacquelyn Oladimeji (Simeon), Herman Taylor Jr. (Electra), Vicki Taylor, Janice Monroe (Larry), Vivian Taylor, Lois Taylor, Pamela Webb (Larron Sr.), Marketta Hickman (Ernest Sr.), Horace Taylor (Cheryl), Larry Taylor (Lorene) and Lisa Jones (Frank Jr), grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
