REFLECTION OF LIFE

Gregory Jerome Ledbetter, affectionately known to family and friends as Jerome, was born October 29, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the John Lewis Ledbetter and Yerta S. Durham (Ledbetter). He was the third of seven children. His father, John Lewis Ledbetter, preceded him in his journey home.

He received his formal education in Kansas City, Kansas and Houston, Texas graduating from Jack Yates High School in 1975 and attended Donnelly College. He was employed with Ford Motor Company, Allis Chalmers Equipment and Machinery Company, B & R Insulation Contractors, and Azcon Metals Company.  Jerome loved to work with his hands and had passion for auto body work; a passion he inherited from his late father and would later pass down to his son and nephew. 

Jerome was baptized at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Webster Curtis West, Kansas City, Kansas.

In his leisure time, Jerome loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. There is not much he would not do for his family.  He was loved by so many people.

He departed this life on November 3, 2020 in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Lewis Ledbetter, his paternal grandparents, Edmond and Alice Ledbetter, and maternal grandparents, Nathaniel C. and Eva L. Henderson.

He leaves to mourn his passing and forever cherish his memory: his son Jeron DońJee Ledbetter of Kansas City, KS; his mother, Yerta S. Durham of Kansas City, KS; two brothers,  John Michael Ledbetter of  Houston, Texas; Ronnie Ledbetter of Kansas City, KS; and four sisters, Jacquelyn Faye Calloway (Kelvin) of Los Angeles, CA; Terrie Lynne Ledbetter of Bonner Springs, KS; Rev. Dr. Kathi Jo Ledbetter Williams (Aaron) of Olathe, KS; and Eva Chalon Ledbetter  of Los Angeles, CA;  his granddaughter, Jańiya Michelle Ledbetter; his  aunt, Uneeda  West of Kansas City, KS; his uncle Estis L. Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
