His Life’s Story
George H. Warren Sr., 74, passed away on October 23, 2020 at University of Kansas Health Systems in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on November 11, 1945 in Columbia, Missouri to James C. Warren and Stella R. Anderson-Warren. George grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Argentine High School in 1964.
He began his work career with Kansas City Structural Steel, Darby Corporation and Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Company as a Mig Welder, retiring from Pittsburg & Midway after 22 years.
George married Willie Mary Thompson in 1964 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were happily married for 56 years. George was a proud member of Grace Temple Baptist Church where he enjoyed being a Deacon, singing in the Male Chorus and Church Choir, being the Facility Maintenance Engineer as well a member of the Men’s Group Meetings ( he loved cooking for the Men’s Group). George was a BBQ pit master and was always excited to cook on his self-made BBQ grill for the family and friends over many summer holidays. George also loved sports including boxing, basketball, track and field, NASCAR racing and his favorite sport football. GO CHIEFS!
George was preceded in death by his parents James C. Warren, and Stella R. Warren; his brothers, James A. Warren, and Eudell Warren.
George is survived by his wife Willie Mary Warren of Kansas City, Kansas; his daughter, Lisa A. Buford of Savannah, Texas; his sons, George A. Sayles; George H. Warren Jr., and Steven C. Warren, all of Kansas City, Kansas; his sister, Stella E. Mitchell (Bill) of Lewisburg, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Camesha Burkley of McKinney, Texas; Cameron Buford (Morgan) of Savannah, Texas; Shayla Mitchell-Sayles of Kansas City, Missouri; Brandon Sayles; Kierra Sayles; Dominic Sayles; DeVante Sayles, and Toyan Sayles all of Kansas City, Kansas; Symone Warren, and Stephon Warren of Shawnee, Kansas; his 11 great grandchildren; his special son, Gerry Buford of McKinney, Texas; his special daughter, Angela Warren of Shawnee, Kansas; his nieces, and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
