Deacon George McGough Jr passed at the age of 75 on August 5th, 2025 at his home. George was born in Trunxo, LA on July 25th 1950 to Mr. George McGough Sr and Clara (Goldsby) McGough. George McGough Jr was raised in Farmerville, LA and graduated from Eastside High School in 1968. After graduating he immediately went into the U.S Navy, served a duty of four years and enlisted. His tour of duty was four years plus and re-enlisted to the Navy National Guard which consist of one extra year. He was discharged as an Honorable Navy Soldier. This was all during the Vietnam War & Vietnam Air. Following his military service he obtained a position at ARMCO Steel, as a Wire Drawer for 45 years. George also obtained many other positions as the President for his local union AFLCIO and a Supervisor at Rockhurst College for 10 years and he also drove for the Kansas City Airport as a shuttle driver for 10 years. George was a hard working man for his Church , job and family.
George took care of his family, he was not a man to play with. He Married Evelyn Hawthorne McGough ( Ebbie ) of 39 years of happiness. A devoted wife which he died in her arms at home of caring for 8 years this Thanksgiving. George was a deacon, a man of God devoted member of Southside Baptist Church of many years and transitioning to House of Prayer Evangelistic Church where Bishop Benard Crawford Jr. and his lovely wife Evangelist Trina Crawford are the overseers.
George proceeded in death by his father George McGough Sr, his mother Clara ( Goldsby ) McGough and only sister Mary Nero and her daughter Sharon, whom all he loved deeply.
George is survived by his loving Wife Evelyn McGough of Kansas City, Kansas, his children Catina, Gerald , Ashli , Joshua Sr & Bishop Bernard Crawford Jr. plus a host of grand and great grandchildren and a host of relatives ( Marshall-Lola’s husband, Tonya Farmer , Jerome and Winzer ) in Louisiana whom he loved deeply.
