Gary Lennell Wren

His Life’s Reflection

Gary Lennell Wren was born on January 28, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie B. and Barbara Mills Wayne.  Gary grew up in Kansas City, Kansas.  He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas.  He began to work for the Unified Government as a Flareman where he worked for 17 years.  He retired in 2018 after 6 years of working with The Hollywood Casino.

Gary married Vanessa D. Payne in 1995 in Kansas City, Kansas.  They were happily married for 25 years.  Gary was a member of Eighth Street Baptist Church.  He enjoyed singing, skating, BBQ’s, family, and friends. 

Gary Lennell Wren 63 passed away on August 28, 2020 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two stepsons.

Gary is survived by his spouse, Vanessa Wren of Kansas City, Kansas; His daughters, Kalana Wren of Kansas City, Missouri; Shanne (Tawanna) Wren of Las Vegas, Nevada; LaShasta (Jeffrey) Boykin of Kansas City, Kansas; his siblings, Herbert Green; Jackie James; Brett Wayne all of Kansas City, Kansas; and Deborah Cohn of Dallas, Texas; his 6 sisters-in-law; his 2 brothers-in-law; his 8 grandchildren; and his 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
