Gloria was born on December 9, 1944, to Edward Paul Dodds Sr. and Savannah J. Dwights-Dodds.,in Kansas City, Kansas. She the baby and only girl of her four brothers,; Robert S. Dodds, Edward P. Dodds Jr., Donald H. Dodds Sr., and Wade Dodds,; who all preceded her in death.
Gloria was born and reared in Kansas City, Kansas. She received Jesus Christ at an early age. Gloria attended Dunbar Elementary, Northeast Junior High, and graduated from Sumner High School in 1973. She attended college at the Northridge University in Northridge California and received her Bachelor of Science.
Gloria worked for General Motors and became a supervisor before leaving to care for her husband. She was a member of the New Testament Pencostal Church.
Gloria better known as “Flick” was a fun and very outspoken person with a love of using colorful language, she always had a unique way with her words. She loved to entertain and would often host holiday parties. She loved to thrift shop for antiques. DIY was also something she would often do in her spare time. Gardening and making floral arrangements was also hobbies she often enjoyed. When she wasn’t crafting, Gloria was traveling the world to places like, Hawaii, California, Egypt, Jerusalem, and even Bethlehem.
Gloria with four brothers, she was sure to be a boss, often known as a natural-born leader or the supervisor of many things. She was a speed racer, and a tomboy, in fact this is where her nickname of birth from.
In 1963, Gloria married the love of her life, Sam Ivory. They shared sixty-years of harmony. A sound and loving marriage, “till death do us part”, was a vow Gloria cherished. No one could say “Samma-Lee” quite like Gloria. And, Sam would answer, “Yes Reddy.” Their love language is shared between one another. To their union a beautiful bundle of joy, their beloved Terri. The apple of their eyes. Gloria and Sam shared two grandsons, Quincy and Joshua Ivory. Gloria enjoyed being a loving and caring grandmother to her grandsons.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her husband, Sam Ivory,; her daughter, Terri Ivory; her grandsons, Quincy Ivory and Joshua Ivory,; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
