His Story
Fayte Ewing, Jr., 81, passed away September 17, 2021, at The University of Kansas Hospital after suffering from heart disease. He was born February 29, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas to Fayte Ewing, Sr. & Iola Lee Foster Ewing, who preceded him in death, along with one sister, Lovette Bailey; one brother, Joseph Ewing, and a son, Donald Ewing. He leaves to cherish his memory, five daughters, Carla Eskridge (Vernon), Karen Jones (Paul), Angelia Ewing, Kim Armstrong, and Kimberly Young (Eric). He also leaves behind four grandsons, Austin Ewing, Vincent Davis, Jr., Ryan Davis, Jordan Hobson, and one granddaughter, Hailee Young; in addition to 2 great-grandchildren, Jaison and Mason Davis. Fayte also leaves behind surviving siblings, Dr. Effie Easterwood (Leo), Bobby Ewing, Betty Ivy, Bonnie Stephens, Clarence Ewing, Pat Ewing, Carolyn Walters, and a half-brother, LeDell Ewing. In addition, 5 step grandchildren (1 deceased), 10 stepgreat-grandchildren, 5 step great-great-grand-children, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. As a child, Fayte attended First Baptist Missionary Church (KCK), and in his older years went to Progressive Missionary Baptist Church (KCMO) with family. He attended Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, including Northeast Junior High School, and Sumner High School. Fayte worked for several years at Guston-Bacon (aka CertainTeed) Fiberglass. He also worked a number of years at Proctor and Gamble until he became disabled due to poor vision. Fayte enjoyed being around people, and socializing with others. He also loved sharing information about any community services he was aware of that would help others.
