Erma Lee Baker

Erma Baker, 80, passed away on March 28th, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice house in Kansas City Mo. She was born on June 30th, 1940 in Dumas Arkansas to Richard and Edell Hardy Chaffin.

Erma grew up in Dumas Arkansas where she attended school. She professed Christ at an early age, and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ wholeheartedly.

Erma married George Baker Jr. in 1962 in Liberal Kansas. They were happily married for 6 years. To their union was born one son and two daughters, before Erma became a widow. She began work for National Beef and held several positions there for many years. 

Erma was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church located in Kansas City, Kansas, where she sang in the choir and was apart of the Missions group. She enjoyed family, singing, playing bingo, music, and traveling back home to Dumas Arkansas.

Erma was preceded in death by both parents Richard and Edell Chaffin. Sister Theodoris Thomas, Brother Richard Chaffin Jr., Brother Roosevelt Chaffin, Sister Minnie Ora Chaffin, Brother Jimmy Chaffin, Sister Betty Baker, and Brother Larry Chaffin.

Erma leaves to cherish her memory one son Kenneth Baker Sr. (Jean) of Overland park, Kansas, Two daughters Maylon Davis (Jeff Sr.) of Wentzville Mo, and Carolyn Brown (William) of Kansas City, Mo. Two brothers: Clifton (Rock) Chaffin (Joyan) of Dumas Arkansas, Ernest Ray Chaffin of Fort Smith Arkansas, Five sisters: Versie Mae (Travis) Gibson of Dumas Arkansas, Mary Ruth (Johnny) Washington of Pine Bluff Arkansas, Jewell Freeman of Mitchellville Arkansas, Madella Brown of Kansas City, Kansas and Mender Mitchell of Dumas Arkansas, 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephew’s other relatives and friends.

 The family will be greeting friends and relatives at Nefertiti Banquet Hall located at 1314 Quindaro Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66104 on April 17th 2021 immediately following the burial.
