In Loving Memory
Eric E. Walker, Sr., 70, passed away on June 16, 2022, at his home in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the eldest of five children born on August 6, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas to Alfred (Bill) and Georgia M. Walker. He was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Unified School District 500. Eric was preceded in death by both parents, and his brother, Gary.
Following high school, Eric endeavored to work for several employers throughout the Kansas City, metropolitan area, mostly performing routine warehouse work and other labor-related jobs. Eric was known for “marching to the beat of his own drum.” He admittedly resisted working for other people, which motivated him to start his own business focused on his passion for working on cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
In 1980, Eric opened Major Auto Repair in Kansas City, Kansas, and he earned the distinction of becoming a Certified Master Mechanic. He was the owner/operator of Major Auto Repair for nearly 21 years until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he continued working as an independent contractor, remodeling homes, and performing minor home repairs. Eric was a consummate tinkerer ensuring that his personal vehicles, as well as vehicles from many of his loyal customers were always operating at optimum levels.
In 2006, Eric released Fair Havens – The Eric Walker Project serving as the executive producer. This compilation of work embodied his musical prowess, consisting of jazz melodies that he co-produced with the assistance of several local jazz artists known throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. Eric believed the completion of Fair Havens was truly a musical blessing from God, which captured one of the many gifted talents that he possessed!
Eric married Cardelia Bradley on August 6, 1986, in Kansas City, Kansas, celebrating nearly 36 years of marriage. Eric was a faithful member of Experiencing God Ministries until his death.
