Reflections of Life
Minister Emma Jean Payne, 72, of Gardner, passed away on October 21, 2021, after a short battle with a severe illness.
Emma, born on August 31, 1949, to two loving parents, Ladell and Corene, in Farmerville was a bundle of joy from the very beginning. Emma enjoyed pastimes such as playing with her dolls and riding Old Red in her early age and as she grew into her teenage years, her focus shifted to business and dance. After graduating from high school, Emma went on to pursue a degree in Education at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She also went on to earn two Masters degrees in Education from Avila University and Walden University.
Emma graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Education. It was at this time that she moved to Kansas City, Kansas and met Harry Franklin Payne. The two fell in love and were a match made in heaven, going on to have one child, Jean Rosene Payne. Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Emma’s life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty and we will all miss her dearly.
Emma was predeceased by Harry Franklin Payne.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Rosene Payne; and her children, Ladell Jr; Loeas; Claire; and Hubbard; along with numerous nieces, and nephews.
