Elmon Owens Obituary

Elmon Raino-Owens was born on November 7, 1944, to the union of Lessie B. Carroll-Owens, and Owen Raino in Wilmot, Arkansas.

As a child growing up in Wilmot, Elmon embraced the love of family, farming, driving tractors, horseback riding, and especially growing fruits, and vegetables.  He graduated from Slack Le Grand in 1962.  After graduating Elmon joined his mother, stepfather Clifton Owens Sr., and siblings in Kansas City. 

It was on August 11, 1966, that he married the love of his life Tecennia Owens.  To this union, 3 beautiful children were born Lance, Janetta, and Randy.   Elmon always worked hard for his family and provided for them as a laborer at Wilkerson Construction for 10 years.  He soon moved on to Huggins Construction Company and started operating heavy equipment.  Elmon was a long-time member of the Laborers Union #1290 and Heavy Equipment #101.  He worked in construction for a total of 40 years until retiring at age 65 from Rainbow Construction.         

After retiring Elmon dedicated his free time to traveling, fishing, gardening, and repairing cars/trucks, and enjoying his grand and great-grandchildren. 

Elmon was preceded in death by his daughter Louella Owens; his father Owen Raino, stepmother Lucille Raino; mother Lessie B. Owens, stepfather Clifton Owens, Sr “Old Dude”; a brother Yourley “Buck” Owens; sisters Twila Randolph, Dora Owens, Shirley Walker, Mary Randolph, Lessie B. “Allie” Brown, Bobbie Jo Raino, and 1 grandson Lance Elmon Owens, Jr.

Elmon leaves to carry on his love and legacy his devoted wife Tecennia Owens of 56 years,  3 children son Lance Owens Sr (Cheryl) of Kansas City, KS; daughter Janetta (William IV) Spencer of Hueytown, AL; son Randy (Berrian) Owens of Kansas City, KS; and one special nephew Maron Jackson of Kansas City, KS; sisters Ruthie Mae Owens, Verlee  Brown, Naomi Ivory, Connie Owens; brothers Charles (Charlotte) Raino, Clifford Owens Jr “Tuna”, and Gregory (Linda) Owens, 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
