Life Reflection

Eva Lois Williams (affectionately known as “Tweet”) was the eighth (8th) of twelve (12) children born October 7, 1926 to the union of Henry W. and Alice Cameron in Henderson, Texas. Both parents and nine (9) of her siblings preceded her in death, Wilson, Theoda, Horace, Ola Mae, Bernice, Albertus, Josephine, James, and Frederick.

Eva Lois accepted Christ at an early age at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas. She attended London Colored High School and was very active in the drama and acting activities at school. She was selected to perform in various roles in many plays, including the lead role in “Red Headed Stepchild”.

In 1948, she was united in marriage to Lee Williams to this union, they raised one (nephew) son, Booker T. Williams. Her husband, Lee also preceded her in death in 1995.

The family moved to Kansas City in 1953 where she joined in fellowship with Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend H. W. Bowen where she faithfully served for 21 years until his death in 1992.  She continued in fellowship at Mount Calvary under the leadership of Reverend E. A. Collins serving as church Treasurer and as a Board of Trustee member and much more during her service of over 50 years.  Eva Lois, aka, Mother Williams, was a former Recording Secretary of City Mission for fourteen years and a former Committee Woman of Kaw Valley District. She worked as a Phlebotomist and retired from Bethany Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas.  She blessed the community of Kansas City, Kansas by serving as a Foster Grandparent for several years earning her the honor of being named Foster Grandparent of the year.

Mother Williams loved gardening, beautiful flowers, and all fruits, especially watermelon. She loved and never missed special family gatherings and sitting on her front porch.

Eva Lois leaves to mourn her a loving nephew/son, Booker T. Williams, Kansas City, Kansas, one brother, Ernest Cameron (Esther), Dallas, Texas; One sister, Alice Pauline Lacy, Los Angeles, California; a host of nieces and nephews and her other children, Harvey, Brenda, Maurice, Shari, Warren, and Roxie (Williams) and a loving Goddaughter, Catherine Durham, Kansas City, Kansas.
