Life of Elanzo Smittie
Elanzo Smittie was born November 20,1928, in Tiller, Arkansas, to Eligah Smittie and was Lula Jones.
He graduated from Sumner High School in KCK, in May 1949.
He was active in the United States Army, in January 1951, and received an honorable discharge in December 1956.
Elanzo was employed at General Services and Administration from 1963 until he retired in 1988. He was later employed at Providence Medical Center for custodial work.
Elanzo was married to Betty Lou Smittie and to this union four children were born: Carmen, Andre, Alonda, and Marquita. He has a host of grandchildren and great-grands.
Later he married Beethel Drew on June 11, 1987. They were married for 37 years.
Elanzo united with St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church in 1987. He was a member of the Usher Board, was the Sunday School Superintendent, and served on Music and Deacon Ministries. He was awarded two special recognition awards for his dedicated service to the church. He served faithfully until his health began to decline.
Elanzo was preceded in death by his father Eligah, his mother Lula, a son Alonda, and a daughter Carmen.
Elanzo leaves to mourn, his wife, Beethel Smittie, his son Andre (Darnett), and his daughter Marquita (Seattle, Washington).
He also leaves to mourn his passing his stepchildren: Dorothy, James, Maxine, Loretta, Larry, and Marilyn.
Elanzo Smittie went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
