Dorothy “Dot” Ruth Dale passed gracefully and peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Kansas City, Kansas, at the mature age of 86. Dorothy was born on August 16, 1938, in Waco, Texas, to the late Wilson and Mable Batts. Dorothy loved and honored her parents all the days of their lives. Dorothy graduated from high school in Waco with a degree. Dorothy departed her childhood home in Waco, Texas, and moved to Kansas City, KS. Dorothy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at a very early age. Dorothy was an active and dedicated member of the church.
Dorothy met and married her sweetheart, Phillip A. Lambert, a U.S. Air Force Aircraft Engineer and U.S. Post Office Freight Handler. Dorothy and Phillip welcomed two sons, Phillip A. Lambert and Roderick O. Lambert, into their home. Dorothy and Phillip set about teaching their sons to be good citizens who love the Lord Jesus Christ. Both of Dorothy’s sons remember Dorothy as a kind, gentle, patient, supportive, and abundantly loving mother who encouraged them both to believe in themselves and to pursue their life goals and live their life’s dreams. Dorothy secured a long and fruitful career and retired after 30 years with AT&T as a Possess checker.
Dorothy was a cheerful and faithful servant of God. Dorothy was an accomplished multi-business woman who owned and managed numerous successful businesses in both Kansas and Missouri. Dorothy was a dedicated individual who loved her family and friends and who was passionate about providing wisdom and guidance. Dorothy’s home was a place of refuge over the years, providing a safe place to live for her many family members. God blessed her by having her every need met and the ability to bless others with what God had provided to her, and she gave unselfishly.
Dorothy was preceded in death by ex-husband, Phillip A. Lambert, of Denver, Colorado; her parents, Wilson Batts and Mable Batts, of Waco, Texas; her son, Phillip A. Lambert of KC, KS; her brother, Fred Wilson Batts; and her sisters, Bobby Coppage of KC, KS, Mattie Hussey of KC, KS, and Imo Jean Johnson of KC, KS.
Dorothy leaves to mourn and is blessed to be survived today by her son, Roderick O. Lambert of KC, MO; her daughters-in-law, Lisa M. Shaw-Lambert and Rosalind; her four beautiful grand-daughters: Diamond L. Lambert of KC, MO; Nia P. Lambert of KC, MO; Kneisha Lambert KS; and Brianna Lambert, KS; her sisters, Kay Rodgers, of North KC, MO and Mildred Fay Williamson, of KC, KS; her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
