Life’s Reflection

Donald Edwin Jones Jr., 54, passed away on April 3, 2021 at VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Donald was born on April 18,1966 in Kansas City, Kansas to Donald and Mary (Grandberry) Jones.

Donald grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. Donald graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1984. After high school he joined the US Army in 1985 and served for 2 years. Donald was discharged in 1988, achieving the rank of E2.  He began work for Gerber Moving & Trucking Company as a Class B Truck Driver where he worked for 9 years. Donald worked for many companies, including United Van Lines, Modern Movers, Coleman Worldwide Moving, Weiser Security and Securitas Security Services. 

Donald married Lori Berkland in 2000 in Kansas City, Kansas.  They were happily married for 16 years. He enjoyed fishing and basketball. 

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Collins.

Donald is survived by his father, Donald Edwin Jones Sr.; his children, Donnell Jones; and Lavecia Jones of Kansas City, Kansas; Damian Jones; Devyn Jones; and Derek Jones of Papillion, Nebraska; his sisters, Tracy L. Williams (Eric Williams); Jennifer Jones; and brother, Willie Jones of Kansas City, Kansas; his grandchildren, Adonis; Josiah; and Santana; his nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me, so put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole for I’ve been invited to the fishing hole where every day is a day to fish. Don’t worry or feel sad for me, I’m fishing with the Master of the sea. To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I’m missing, just tell’em I’ve gone fishin!
