Life’s Reflection
Delores R. Ross, 79, passed away on March 3, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on November 19, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles Allen and Lillie Pitchlyn Allen. She grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from high school here in the city. After high school she began to work for Happy Day Preschool as an Assistant Director where she worked for 35 years.
Delores married William F. Ross in 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were happily married for 49 years.
Delores was a member of St. James Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
Delores had a phenomenal love of flowers which everyone knows and was always a showstopper! The array of colors was as broad as her love for all that she knew. She also loved cooking. As a matter of fact, at all at all of our family picnics we would fight over her bread pudding and peach cobbler! And the traditional Sunday dinners was the best. We don’t know what we would have done without her in our lives. She was the “Glue” for our family.
She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a wife. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and smile. All the children at Happy Day Preschool craved her attention and loved her as well.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Pitchlyn Allen; her father, Charles Allen; her sister, Gwendolyn; her brothers, Charles and Louis.
Delores leaves to cherish her love for her family, Reginald Walker & Karen Walker (eldest son); Therisa Delores Ross (daughter); and Frederick Stanley Ross (youngest son); sister, Sylvia Ann Wash; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; along with many grandchildren whom will lean on our family at this difficult time.
