Life’s Reflection
Consuello (Connie) Brookie Moore was born January 9, 1926, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Jarrett and Alpha Moore. She was affectionately known as Connie by her many family and friends.
Connie was the fourth of five children. Alpha Moore, the mother of Connie, was one of the five ladies that founded Christ Temple Church of Christ (Hol.) USA in Kansas City, Kansas. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and her oldest child Lonnell L. Pennington Jr.
Connie was educated in Kansas City, Kansas, where she attended Stowe Elementary, Northeast Jr. High, and graduated from Sumner High School in 1945.
Connie began working at the young age of 14 years as a domestic engineer. She worked side by side with her brother, Jarrette B. Moore, at Supreme Life Insurance Company. Connie worked there for another 20 years, after which she worked as a tax preparer at H & R Block until 2018 when she had to focus on some health challenges. Connie continued as a tax preparer for 23 years. In addition, she managed to work other jobs in between.
Connie Moore was the oldest living member of Grace Fellowship Church of Christ (Hol.) USA (formerly Christ Temple Church of Christ (Hol.) USA). Connie rededicated her life to Christ in the 1970s and was re-baptized by Bishop Emery Lindsay. Connie kept working diligently in the Church and enjoyed the fellowship with the congregation. She served as the bookkeeper and secretary at New Life Church of Christ (Hol) USA and the vacation bible school registrar.
Connie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sharon Kaye Pennington-Johnson-Cherry (Julius) and Zana Pennington-Shain (Wendell). In addition,
Connie leaves seven grandchildren, Dewon M. Johnson (Stefanie), Jetta S. Rumley (Joseph), Carlos D. Merriman, David Jarrett Johnson (Tia), Felicia L. Pennington, Scott A. Shain, and Darin K. Johnson (Charlotte); ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a loving nephew David R. Jones (Victoria) and a caring niece, Geraldine L. Jones, as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
