Clemmie Jerome Bachus (Jerome) was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 13, 1962, to Wilma Norman Bachus and Rev. C.L. Bachus. His mother, Dr. Wilma Norman Bachus preceded him in death. In 1967 the family moved to Helena, Arkansas when his father was called to pastor the New Light Baptist Church. Jerome attended Jefferson and Sacred Heart Elementary schools in Helena, AR. In December 1971, the Bachus family moved to Kansas City, Kansas when Rev. Bachus was called to lead the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Jerome attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Northwest Middle School and Schlagle High School; graduating in 1980. A natural athlete, Jerome played basketball in both middle and high school. Jerome accepted Christ at a young age and was active in Mount Zion attending Sunday School, singing in the youth choir, and later singing with the melodious Mount Zion Male Chorus. After graduation, Jerome attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and returned to Kansas City, Kansas to begin his firefighting career with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department. After leaving the fire department, Jerome worked for Friends of Yates, Kansas City Kansas Housing Authority and with a local contractor. Jerome later received a certification in General Contracting from the Kansas City Kansas Area Technical School. Even before attending ATS, Jerome had a knack for fixing just about anything. After adding the knowledge gained at ATS, his talents grew exponentially.
On Monday, July 31, 2023, Clemmie Jerome Bachus laid down his earthly burdens and went home to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Clemeita Rashean Bachus; one son, Justin Bachus; his father, Rev. Dr. C.L. Bachus; brothers Rev. Dr. Reginald E. Bachus (Detra), Rev. Dr. Selwyn Q. Bachus (Marla); sisters, Dr. Verneda Bachus Curry (Don) and Sonja Bachus. He also leaves five grandchildren, Stephen Bachus, JaKylan Stewart, Parys Stewart, Lamea Davis and Sulia Cooperwood; nephews Rev. Reginald L. Bachus, Darrian Flint, DeAris Flint, Bryan Robinson, Selwyn Q. Bachus II and Myles Bachus; nieces Regina Bachus and Bria Robinson; and a great host of family and friends.
