Clarence Thompson Obituary

Clarence Thompson was born on August 4, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas to Tecumesh Thompson and Pauline Ansley. Clarence was raised with strong values that stayed with him throughout his life. At an early age, he accepted Christ, a foundation that guided him in how he lived, how he treated others, and how he carried himself. He was a man who believed in doing things the right way, standing on what was right, and handling his responsibilities without hesitation.

Clarence attended school in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Wyandotte High School. He later began his career with BNSF Railway, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Clarence was a hard worker with true dedication. There was nothing lazy about him. If he said something, he meant it, and he made sure business was always handled.

Clarence had a presence about him that you felt. He was strong, funny, and serious all at the same time. He didn't play when it came to his family, especially his sisters. He was protective in a real way, the kind of protective where you didn't even have to ask. He was a man you could count on. If he said something, he meant it. There was nothing lazy about him. He handled his business, did things the right way, and carried himself with a level of discipline and pride that people respected. He was smart, a thinker, and he loved talking to young people, giving them wisdom and they listened.

And one thing about Clarence... he was going to be clean. Every time. He had to be fly when he stepped out. His clothes stayed at the cleaners, and if he did it himself, he was going to take his time, sometimes hours, making sure every crease was right. His shoes were clean. His shoelaces were clean. Everything about him said he took pride in himself.

Clarence was a watcher. He paid attention, he noticed things, and he showed up for people without making a big deal about it. His protection came in real ways. He would call you just to say, "Lock your door." He would tell you, "Keep a pocket knife on you." And he meant it. He believed in being aware, being prepared, and looking out for the people he loved

Clarence loved his family deeply. He loved all of his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He was a provider, a protector, and someone his family could depend on. His presence brought a sense of security, and his love left a mark that will never fade.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Tecumesh Thompson and Pauline Ansley; his son, Clarence Thompson Jr. "Pookie"; his brother, Larry Thompson; and his sister, Beverly Whitney.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Vanessa Thompson; his sons, Adrian Sharp (Martine) and Lavance Thompson; his daughters, Cicely Malone (Michael) and Clarissa Thompson; his brothers, Calvin Thompson and Keith Thompson; his sisters, Brenda Juste Earl, Lorraine Thompson, Pauletta Bolden, Tonya Williams (Clarence), Montoria Thompson, Renita Ansley, and Kizzy Jarrett (Vincent); his grandchildren; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry his legacy forward.
