Charlotte June Freeman was born in Kansas City, MO, on January 2, 1948, to the marriage of Jewelette (White) and Mose Vine.
She attended school in Eldorado, KS, and Wichita, KS. She graduated from Wichita East High School, class of 1966. Charlotte attended Wichita State University and then enrolled in Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She began her nursing career in Wichita, KS in 1969 at Wesley Hospital and then St. Francis Hospital.
In the early 1970s, Charlotte relocated to Kansas City, MO. She continued her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at various hospitals and nursing facilities in the Greater Kansas City area. She practiced as a nurse for over 50 years, until her retirement in 2019. Charlotte was an excellent nurse. She was known for her loving care and her kind manners. Patients under her care loved her. Even when she faced adversity with difficult patients, she still gave them the best care possible.
On February 19, 1977, Charlotte was united in Holy Matrimony to Minister Harlan Lee Freeman. Together, they built a family as members of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ in Kansas City, KS.
Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She loved family gatherings. She adored all of her siblings and spoke often about being 1 of 10 children, and her father being 1 of 12 children. Charlotte worked hard to give her 3 children the things she didn’t have as a child. She enjoyed laughter and had a wonderful sense of humor. Charlotte instilled in her children to have a strong family bond, show respect, and taught them to be responsible. She was a very loving and devoted mother. She always supported her children’s endeavors. Accepting Christ as a youth, she always had unwavering faith in God.
Charlotte was preceded in death by both parents, her former husband, Harlan Lee Freeman Sr.; brothers Leslie Houston and Mose Vine Jr.; sisters Virginia Vine and Retta Elliott; and one great-granddaughter, Symphony Thompson-Freeman.
Charlotte June Freeman entered into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Charlotte will be deeply missed by her 3 adoring children; daughter, Charita Lynn Vine (Kansas City, KS); son, Harlan Lee Freeman Jr. (Raytown, MO); and daughter, Chanita Michelle Freeman (Blue Springs, MO). Memories of her will be forever cherished by her sisters; Karen Sue Dennis (Tulsa, OK), Charlesetta Shelby (Kansas City, MO), Lorisa Howard (Douglas) (Fort Worth, TX), brothers; Van Norwood (Chicago, IL), William Houston (Los Angeles, CA), and Alfred Vine (Kansas City, KS), and her aunt; Cammie Vine Williams (Chicago, IL). Charlotte left fond memories with 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
