Cecil A. Lee, Jr., (Granny) 69, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2025, with his sister Brenda by his side. Cecil was born on September 10, 1955, in Kansas City, KS, to Cecil A. Lee, Sr. and Mable Caldwell Lee.
Cecil grew up in Kansas City, KS where he graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1973. He later attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, following in the footsteps of his parents, both alumni of the institution. After a brief time at college, Cecil realized it wasn’t the right fit for him and returned home, where he was lovingly embraced by his family.
Throughout his life, Cecil worked at several prominent companies, including Union Pacific, Orkin and Marriott. He dedicated 20 years of service to Marriott, working in Loss Prevention Management before retiring in 2013 after becoming ill receiving valuable service awards. Cecil was a 3rd degree Black Belt in Karate and trained under Master Oyata who also trained Bruce Lee. Cecil was also a proud member of Cancer Fighters of America and a faithful, lifelong member of Stranger’s Rest Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age.
Cecil’s legacy lives on through his son, Cecil A. Lee, III of Kansas City, MO; his sister, Brenda Miller of Kansas City, KS; and his nieces Jacqueline Miller and Jerrihlyn McGee (Maurice) of Kansas City, KS. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Miller of Kansas City, KS; great-nephew Dustin Miller of Dallas, TX; great-niece Kyndall Miller of Kansas City, KS; mother of his son and dear friend Ana Bonilla of Kansas City, MO; stepdaughters Brenda Fernandez of San Diego, CA and Mariel Fernandez of Miami, FL; and a host of other loving relatives (Caldwell family) and friends.
