Brenda Jean Long (Johnson) also known as "Mudder" passed away on January 9th, 2024 at her home in Kansas City, KS surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 27th, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas to Theodore Johnson and Mary Francis Richardson, also known as Big Mama. Brenda grew up here in the heart of Kansas City, Kansas. Brenda attended Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS and graduated in 1956 where she received her High School Diploma. Brenda worked at KU Medical Center as a nurse's aide. She also worked for Juniper Gardens Doctor's Office as a receptionist for years. Brenda was a member of Stranger Rest Baptist Church. Brenda married Army E-4 Specialist Tecumseh Long. Jr on June 24th, 1982, in Leavenworth, Kansas. They were happily married until she passed for 42 years. Brenda was a loving mother of seven wonderful children, four daughters and three sons. She was also a dedicated older sister to her only sister. Brenda enjoyed fishing, camping, shopping, BBQs, long drives and spending time with her loved ones. You could always find her surrounded by generations of her family. Brenda is preceded by her parents Theodore Johnson and Mary Francis Richardson, her grandchild Kevin Garrett, her great-grandchild De'Kevon Ellis and her son-in-law Barry Fletcher. Brenda is survived by her spouse Army E-4 Specialist Tecumseh Long. Jr of Kansas City, Kansas. Her seven children: Michael (Ada), Marilyn, Mary, Michelle (Barry .d), Ray, Robin, Keith and her sister Esther(James). She also is survived by 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, 1 niece, 2 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memory service will be held at Stranger Rest Baptist Church 2052 N Fifth Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101 at 10:00 am. A Visitation will be held at Stranger Rest Baptist Church 2052 N Fifth Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101 at 9:00 am. Her burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048 at 12:30 pm.
