Anthony Michael Harvey, Sr., was born November 20, 1959, to Henry “Hymie” Harvey Jr. and Lola (Brown) Harvey. a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 65. Known for his generous heart and warm sense of humor, he touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Anthony received his education in the Kansas City, Kansas, school district and graduated from J.C. Harmon High School with the Class of 1977. He continued his studies at Grambling State University in Grambling, LA, where he was an active member of the marching band and pursued a degree in music. Upon returning to Kansas City, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard, serving faithfully for eight years and exemplifying courage, discipline, and dedication to his country.
A man of unwavering faith, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at a young age. In 1986, while a member of the Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, he answered God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Anthony began his career at General Motors, where he served faithfully for many years, earning the respect of his peers through his strong work ethic and leadership. Later, he pursued his entrepreneurial passion by founding Anthony Harvey’s Contracting, a successful painting business that showcased his craftsmanship, pride, and perseverance.
Anthony will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a big heart, a good sense of humor, and was a man of God. His faith guided his life and his actions, and he brought comfort, laughter, and wisdom to many.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Henry Harvey Jr., and brother Henry Harvey III.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dinah Harvey; his mother, Lola Harvey; and his brother, Terry Harvey (Sally). He also leaves behind his sons: Anthony Harvey, Jr. (Vanessa), Bernard Harvey (Felisha), and Jamarcius Harvey; stepdaughters: Ronitta Watts and Edwina Gaskin (Kieron); grandchildren: Ricky Williams, Kienen Gaskin, Makaayla Poindexter, A’Lyric Harvey, Aniyah Harvey, Taylor Harvey, Malik Minton, Emily Harvey, Bernard Harvey II, Madison Harvey, Peyton Harvey, Azuree Sumpter, Tyller Sumpter, Nevaeh Sumpter, Hayden Sumpter, Anthony Michael Harvey III, and Harlo Henry Harvey, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Anthony leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and service that will endure in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
