Life’s Reflection
Angela Renee Griffin-Edwards, the second of six children, was born on December 11, 1957, to James and Altheria Griffin, educated in the KCK school district graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1975. Angela departed from us on September 11, 2021
Angela dedicated her life to Christ in 1978 while attending Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Niles Seawood. She then continued her membership with Resurrection Baptist Fellowship Church. She was a dedicated member with the Matrons and the Adult Choir. Angela loved and took pride in sharing her talents in other ministries. She knew and Loved the Lord.
Angela affectionally called "Angie", united with Derrick "Ricky" Edwards on January 14, 1976. To this union brought their loving daughter Dericka "Pookie" Edwards
Angie was known for her friendly smile and wonderful sense of humor. You could always count on her for a laugh. Angie brought sunshine to a cloudy day. When she walked in a room it lit up and left you with joy. You would know it was Angie just by hearing her contagious laugh. No one was a stranger to Angie anyone she came across she made them feel comfortable like family. She always helped who she could help with anything from advice to a couple of dollars. She was beautiful both inside and outside she definitely was the selfie queen, with a warm personality that you would easily fall in love with. Angie loved her family unconditionally and looked forward to spending time with everyone at her parents’ house she loved singing for her daddy. Angie loved, singing, joking, baking she famous for her 7up cake and chocolate chip cookies and didn’t mind sitting down to challenge anyone in a game of spades. Angie had two grandsons who she loved dearly Bryson Ross; and Noah Ross. who she loved dearly she took pride in being the best "Maw-Maw" Ever.
Angela was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service for over 20 plus years and was a group leader. It wasn't just a job to her. She loved her job and enjoyed the work. Angie was grateful for her job she always said, “Jesus gave me this job so I'm going to act like I'm working for Jesus!”. At work she was known as Ms. Angie, Grif, or Mama. She developed a lot of long-lasting bonds and friendships of all ages.
Angela was preceded in death by her mother Altheria. O Griffin; her nephews, Gregory Hancock Jr.; and Eric Roberson.
She leaves to cherish her memories husband of 45 years, Derrick "Ricky" Edwards; one daughter, Dericka "Pookie" Edwards; two grandsons, Bryson Ross; and Noah Ross; her father, James Griffin Sr.; five siblings, Sherry Hancock; Deborah Johnson; Carmen Powell; Kim Griffin; James Griffin Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends that all held a special place in her life.
