Alfonso Owens Sr.

Alfonso Owens Sr. 72 passed away on 10/4/2024 at the VA hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Alfonso Owens was born August 6, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas to Will Owens and Freddie Mae Owens. He attended Attucks Elementary School and Rosedale High School. He joined the United States Army in 1972. After the service, he got married. He worked at Nebraska Furniture Mart and retired fifteen years later. He was a member of the Greater Pentecostal Temple. Alfonso Owens was a devoted father, brother, and friend. He loved to fish, enjoy the sunshine, and spend time with friends. Alfonso was preceded in death by his father Will Owens, his mother Freddie Owens, his sister Alma Owens, his brother Christopher Owens, and his son Antoine Owens. Alfonso is survived by his son Alfonso Owens Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, his son Michael McClarty of Omaha, Nebraska and his daughter Erieka Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, his brother Robert Owens of Kansas City, Kansas, his brother Fredrick Owens of Kansas City, Kansas and his sister Cherl Owens of Kansas City, Kansas. He has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He has a plethora of nieces and nephews along with great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. Also his special friend Sharon Davis.

 Burial will be the following Monday, October 21st at 11 am at the Leavenworth VA cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the people who have visited, prayed, and sent gifts to the family of Alfonso Owens Sr. Repass will follow the service at Mary Ann Flunder Lodge at 7250 State Ave. Kansas City, Kansas.
