Aldora Durham, 101, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully in the home on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She was born on February 22, 1924 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Allen Sanders and Ellen Tucker.
Aldora married Charles Hancock, and from their union, Aldora had a daughter, Charlestine Nadine. She later united in marriage to James Durham on January 19, 1943, blending their family to include James’ son Jesse Durham. From that union, a daughter, Norma Jean was born. They later expanded their family with the adoption of their son, Reginald Durham, Sr..
Aldora was a homemaker and a mother to many as a daycare provider for neighbors, family and friends. Aldora had a green thumb and enjoyed fishing, cooking, sewing, quilting and solving crossword puzzles. She had a love for animals and the outdoors. Her family was her greatest joy. She was happiest in the presence of family and friends. As a caregiver to many, Aldora’s love was felt throughout the community.
Aldora was preceded in death by her parents, Alan Sanders and Ellen Tucker, brother Allen Sanders, Jr., her spouse, James Durham, children, Charlestine Scroggins (Robert), Jesse Durham, Reginald Durham (Rodina), sisters, Sadie Jackson, Clotense L. Dillingham, Jewell McDonald, and special cousin Ethel Davis.
Those who would cherish her memory span six generations. Including one daughter, Norma Roland of Kansas City, Kansas, Grandchildren, Tandra Fue, Randy Sowell, Donna Durham, Loise Durham, Andre Durham, Tyla Paul, Justin Durham, Jesse Durham, Jr., Robert Scroggins (Greta), Robin Durham, Carla Mitchell, Carl Roland, Jr. (LaGracella), Carlen Davis, Aric Roland, Sr. (Asenath), Arica Roland, Sylvia Durham, Reginald Durham, Jr., dearest special first cousin Roy Mims, a host of nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.
