Albert Lester (Swift) White, Sr., was born on February 9, 1940, to Clydie Davis and Artis White in the Campground Community of Monticello, Arkansas. He transitioned this life on August 14, 2023, amongst loved ones at his home.
At an early age, he gave his life to Christ at Campground AME Church. Raised by his great grandparents Tom and Priscilla Swift, he completed his formal education at Drew High School in 1958. While in high school, Albert was a member of the Future Farmers of America Club, served as the Class President, as well as a sub for absent teachers and administrators when needed. A short time later, he moved to Kansas City, KS to begin his adult life.
On March 15, 1958, married the love of his life, Shirley (Gragg) White, and to this union, six children were born. They shared 65 years of marital bliss.
Upon arriving in Kansas City, he worked as a mechanic at service station that eventually led him to co-owning a local service station. He continued his entrepreneurial goals by opening a pool hall where the “chili burgers” were more popular than the pool tables. Albert was a hard worker, committed to taking care of his family; after over 20 years until he retired as a Yard Foreman Manager with May Lumber Company.
After retirement, Albert couldn’t stop working, He became the community lawnmower “Mr. Fix It”. If it was broken, sitting under that shade tree in 103-degree weather, he would be found fixing it all.
Albert absolutely loved having a good time with family and friends. Any given weekend you could find him under a tree playing Domino’s or Bid Whiz with an ice-cold drink. He was a member of Billie’s Children (BC), a social club that supports the community in various ways.
While he never officially joined Forest Grove Baptist Church, he was a FAITHFUL virtual Sunday School and church attendee. When services weren’t available, he would send a message to Pastor Lamb that he needed to get the problem fixed. Over the years, Albert’s faith grew through these teaching opportunities.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, oldest brother James (JC) White, and son Gregory Dale.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful wife, his children; Albert Jr. (Tami), Ronnie Sr. (Rena), Veronica Sanders (Jeff Sr.), Alvin (Kim), and Verneta all of Kansas City, KS, siblings; Charles Davis of Milwaukee, WI; Annette James, Karen Walton (Ronald), and Vicki Davis all of Kansas City, KS and Artisteen Walker of Camden, AR, last living Aunt Francis Christian of Monticello, Arkansas, 16 grandchildren; Tianna, Camiile, Charrece, Vivian, Anetra, Chris (Julie), Roni (Kenneth), Michela, Miles, Ronnie, Jr., Jeff Jr., Jasper, Jonte’ (Sam), Paris (Robert), Dexter, Faith aka Pretty Girl and 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
