Adria Renee’ McCrary was born on August 14, 1990, to the union of Stanley and Rita Pegues McCrary. She was curious about everything around her and marched to the beat of her own drum! As a baby, she sat back and watched and decided on whether you could enter her orbit, and once you did, she was your friend for life! She was a fierce protector of those she loved and, especially of her family, and in particular, her mom, dad, and sisters.
Adria was a smart girl! From an early age, she loved school and attended Calvary Lutheran from kindergarten through 8th grade. She went on to attend high school at Notre Dame De Sion and graduated with honors in 2009. Always a knowledge seeker, Adria was eager to enjoy the college experience away from home at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. There she excelled in her studies, met many lifelong friends, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in September 2013.
For most, one college degree is enough, but not for Adria…of course, she wanted more, so she journeyed back to Kansas City and worked for the IRS while earning a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology: Child and Adolescent, from Avila University in 2018. Part of the requirements for her master’s degree was completion of an internship at Research Psychiatric Center in KCMO where she earned a Certificate of Appreciation for the work she did with the patients.
Adria worked for United Healthcare as an EAP Specialist. In her spare time, she enjoyed hanging out with her family and friends and sketching and doodling.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was being Neani’s (pronounced Nina) mom! She Loved being a mom and took pride in personally teaching her daughter and creating healthy daily habits for the baby. Adria was fiercely protective of Neani – if you saw Adria, you’d also see Neani!
Adria’s spirit will live on in the face of her baby girl and in our hearts. She now joins those who proceeded her in death - her beloved mother and her sisters, Rita Faye McCrary, Lauren Rae McCrary, and Shaneani Monique Mason; paternal grandmother, Annie B. McCrary; paternal uncle, Anthony McCrary; and maternal aunt, Jacqueline Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daddy, Stanley McCrary, daughter, Neani Rae McCrary, maternal grandmother, Mildred Smith, paternal aunts: Mary Holloway, Barbara McCrary Bazzle, Sandra K. Levels, Freda Renee McCrary; paternal uncles: Gerry McCrary (Kathy), Terry McCrary (Paula), Darryl R. Hollinshed, Alan H. McCrary; maternal aunts: Beryl Pegues, Frances Malone (Sidney), LaTonya Pegues; maternal uncle, John Pegues and a host of cousins and friends.
