was born September 28, 1959 to Ruthie B. Scott Bridgeman and Alfred Woody Bridgeman, Jr. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, where his parents resided while his father was pursuing his Master’s degree from Indiana University.
Scottie was the eldest of four children blessed to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Carole Anne Bridgeman-Young, grandparents: Royal Scott, Sr. and Eula Scott, and grandparents Alfred W. Bridgeman and Georgia Caudle-Rodgers. He was the oldest grandson of all grandparents.
Scottie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. C.B. Bailey, Pastor Salem Baptist Church, where the Bridgeman family were members under Pastor Bailey’s leadership. Growing up in Salem he attended regularly and was active in church activities.
He attended schools in the Kansas City, Kansas School District, including Vernon, Quindaro Elementary, Washington High School, from which he graduated. He also excelled in high jump and other sports while at Washington H.S., and after graduation, he attended University of Kansas. Scottie later began employment in Kansas City. He united in marriage to Tracy Bell also of Kansas City, Kansas and to this marriage two beautiful daughters were born, Kelly and Rachel. After several years, the marriage was dissolved.
Scottie was blessed with a great aptitude for electronics and machinery which he used in his employment in the Kansas City area. He loved family and attending family gatherings. As the oldest Bridgeman sibling, he played the “big brother” role during those “growing up” or maturing years of his brothers and sisters. He was a protector. Over the years he became more “ole school” and valued being “old fashioned.” He would hold a lengthy conversation if it were a subject he really liked!
Scottie transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the age of sixty-four. Though no longer physically with family, he remains always a part of us through love, spirit and memories.
Left to celebrate his life and cherished memories: daughters: Kelly, Rachel, Ashley Cason; sons, Marquis Bridgeman and Torien Scott Kansas City; sisters Sharita L. Bridgeman-Kayembe (Aime`), Richland Hills, TX and Arika Anne Bridgeman-Bunyoli, Portland, OR; brothers: Victor L.
