Life’s Reflection

Willie Mae Murphy-Evan 90 passed away on August 12, 2019 at 11:49 P.M. at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, Kansas.  She was born October 5, 1928 in Kansas City, Kansas to Richard Evans Sr. and Lillie Bailey Evans.

Willie Mae grew up in Kansas City, Kansas attended school in the Kansas City, Kansas School District graduating from Sumner High School in 1946 and went on to Nursing School in Kansas City, Missouri where she received a diploma in Nursing as a License Practical Nurse (LPN). After receiving her diploma, she began to work for Huron Hospital as an LPN in Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked for three years.  Willie Mae married Horace Murphy in 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri and was married for eleven years.

Willie Mae Murphy-Evans was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lillie Evans; her brother, Richard Evans Jr.; her sisters, Rosalie Wolfe and Clarita Scroggins; her children, Anthony Brown and James V. Brown.

Willie Mae is survived by her daughter, Lillian Rose Murphy-Anderson; stepson, Horace Murphy Jr. (Odessa)  both of Kansas City, Kansas; her sister, Shirley Connor (Eddie) of Kansas City, Kansas; her brother, Leonard Evans of Phoenix, Arizona; her grandchildren, Cinnamon Brown; Sheree Brown; Abdulallah Brown; Chrystal Gunnels; L’Vonte Anderson; her great grandchildren, Dontae Carter; Autumn Carter; Maya Brown; T’Mya Ewing; Towan Smith Jr.; Geoffery Brown II; Cameren Brown; her great-great grandchildren, Santana Brown and Alauni Harris.
