Theola Marie Perkins
Theola Marie Perkins was born on November 9, 1931 in Hensley, Arkansas to the late Mr. George Roosevelt and Arra Jane Boyd Perkins.
She was the second to the oldest of twelve children.
Theola attended Philander Smith College where she studied education as she desired to become a school teacher.
Theola was baptized as a child and raised to be a believer in Christ and she knew His magnificent power.
Theola was a loving mother who was crazy about her kids! She was the mother of four, grandmother of six and the great grandmother of six.
She loved fashion and was a classy and elegant dresser. Earlier in life Theola sang with gospel group “The Caravans” and later managed her sisters: The Perkins Sisters. She was tough and demanded the best of them.
She retired from CIGNA Insurance Company in1996. She lived out her last year’s being the best mother, sibling, granny, auntie and friend!
Theola loved to cook and create different types of dishes, especially desserts. She loved flowers and plants and was quite skilled in landscaping. Her lawn had to always be perfect and she loved growing her Elephant Ears every year!
Preceding Theola in death were her parents: George and Arra Jane Perkins; siblings: George Perkins, Jr.; Garnice Hicks; Mae Mitchell; Lethel Perkins; AB Perkins; and her eldest: son, Arlen Perkins.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her three children: Rosalind Butler (Leonard), Kansas City, Missouri; Richardo Vaughn (Sherry), Overland Park, Kansas; and Leigh Dan Drew, Shawnee, KS; daughter-in-law: Rosalyn Perkins; five grandchildren: Leonard P. Butler, III (Brittany); Rachel Hayes (Andre, Sr.); Krista Harper (Durrell); Elijah Drew; and Zoeie Drew; five great grandchildren: Madison; Leonard IV; Andre, Jr.; Ryan; and Riley; five sisters: Doris Davis (Frank) of Kansas City, Kansas; Lois Rogers of Elwood, Kansas; Margaret Hood of Kansas City, Kansas; Melbra Lewis of Raytown, Missouri; Delbra Greer-Spivey (Donald) of Kansas City, Kansas; a brother: Henry Perkins; the last living uncle: Theodore Boyd; a sister-in-law: Barbara Perkins; honorary granddaughter: Ashley Mitchell; and her daughter: Ashlynn Frazier; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
