Ronald Jarrett Obituary

The Epitome of Gentle Soul

On December 27, 2019, Ronald Veloy Jarrett reached the pinnacle of his unwavering faith, as God in his divine wisdom leaned down and whispered in his ear “It’s time now” and called him home.

Ronald was the fifth child of seven children born in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of James and Amanda Jarrett on February 17, 1948. He attended school in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1966.  He furthered his education at Donnelly College and was soon thereafter drafted into the United States Army in 1968, receiving an Honorable Discharge.   He then became employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he rose to the position of Journeyman and later retired.  After his retirement he pursued a career in HVAC and became a certified electrical and HVAC technician.

Ronald was a true child of God and accepted Christ at an early age as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Rev. Thornton.  Along with his family he later joined the Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church, and there worked under the pastorship of the late Rev. A.L. Reaves.  He continued his walk with the Lord and became a member of the First Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Dr. E.A. Freeman and the most recent pastoral guidance of the prolific Rev. Cedric Rowan.  He remained a member of FBC until his glorious transition.

In 1971 Ronald married Eunice Cory and to this union had two daughters, Cheron and Kendra that he, admired as his pride and joy.  This union was later resolved.

Ronald was a quiet man with a gentle spirit and was always eager and willing to help those in need.  For over 25 years he generously contributed and sponsored children through such organizations as the Children’s Fund.  Ronald never gave a greeting, birthday, sympathy or congratulatory card that did not include as a part of his signature his favorite scripture, Psalm 34:1, I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents James and Amanda, his brothers, Hyman Lee and Raymond James.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory two daughters, Cheron Groves (Terry), Blue Springs, MO; Kendra D. Jarrett, Marietta, GA; one granddaughter, Dalonn Groves, Blue Springs, MO; three brothers, Maymond Reese Jarrett (Denise), Powder Springs, GA; Donald Winston Jarrett (Mare), Estonia, EU; and Vincent Timothy Jarrett (Barbara) Kansas City, KS; one sister, Belinda Janice Jarrett, Kansas City, KS; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Jarrett; and Rev. Tracy Jarrett; ten nephews, seven nieces, and a host of great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.
