Petra Magris

Life’s Reflections

Petra Magris was born in October 23, 1926 in Puerto Rico to Heriberto Magris and Eva Marti. She passed away on May 11, 2017 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab in Merriam, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, her parents, Heriberto and Eva, and three sisters.

Petra grew up in Puerto Rico. She graduated from Central High School in San Juan in 1945.  When she graduated she also earned a secretarial/business certification. For many years, Petra worked as a secretary for the Health and State departments in Puerto Rico. She retired after 30 years of government service.

 Petra was married to Jose in 1959 in Puerto Rico. They were happily married for 57 years. In 1999, she left Puerto Rico due to illness. Her daughters took care of her along with her husband. She lived in Ohio, Florida and Kansas.

She enjoyed dancing, music, gardening and long talks on the phone with family and friends.

Petra is survived by her daughters, Emma (John) Bassett of Kansas City, KS; Enid (Pedro) Pinero of Sarasota, FL; and Eda (Harold) Vazquez of Dayton, OH; her grandchildren, Maria Hughes, Enid Rodriguez, Daniel Vazquez, Juan Bassett, David Vazquez, Harry Rodriguez, Alina Vazquez, Eliana Rodriguez and Gabriel Vazquez; eight great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Petra loved her family and she was loved by all who knew her.  We will miss you!

Petra Magris nacio el 23 de octubre de 1926 en Puerto Rico.  Sus padres fueron Heriberto Magris y Eva Marti. Petra era la mayor de cinco hermanas. Petra murio el 11 de mayo de 2017.

Ella vivio en Puerto Rico toda su vida hasta que se mudo a los Estados Unidos en 1999. Ella vivio en Ohio, Florida y Kansas donde fallecio en la ciudad de Merriam. 

Petra le dio el si a Jose y se casaron el 4 de abril de 1959. De esa union nacieron tres hijas que llenaron sus dias de alegria y satisfacion. El matrimonio duro por 57 anos.

Ella trabajo por 30 anos como secretaria en varios puestos para el gobierno de Puerto Rico. Le gustaba la musica, irse de baile, jardineria y hablar por telefono con la familia y amistades.  

Su memoria permanecera en los corazones de sus hijas queridas; Emma (John) Bassett, Enid (Pedro) Pinero, Eda (Harold) Vazquez; sus nietas, nietos, biznietos; el resto de la familia y amigos.

Mami queria mucho a su famila y todos que la conocieron apreciaban su sentido de humor y candidez. Mami, te vamos a echar de menos!
